Alpines of the World

Our botanical garden is located on five acres of prime alpine land in the heart of Vail, Colorado. Our living plant collections bring the experience of the alpine ecosystem within reach of visitors who may never have the chance to venture above treeline. Experience the feel of an alpine meadow, a cold mountain stream, or a beaver pond nestled among aspens.

As a leader of the global strategy for the preservation of alpine ecosystems around the world, Betty Ford Alpine Gardens displays alpine plant species from all alpine regions of the world from South Africa to the European Alps, Middle East and Asia.

See how alpine plants around the world have adapted to survive in these challenging spaces and what we can learn from them in our Alpine Gardens of the World collection.
