In 1986, a small group of visionaries planted a belief — that the fragile alpine world deserved protection and a permanent home in Vail. Forty years later, that belief is still growing.
This year is yours to celebrate. Here you’ll find every way to experience the Gardens — from signature events to quiet morning walks, cooking demonstrations to family days. There is something here for every kind of love for Vail’s botanical garden.
Our seminars, workshops and special events are designed to create connection, while educating and bringing the alpine ecosystem within reach of our visitors. Every event helps bring us closer to saving the fragile native plants, animals and pollinators that are endemic to high alpine places around the world. We hope you’ll consider attending an event to learn more about the deep inter-connectedness of plants with their associated habitats.
And if you’d like to honor your memories here with a gift in celebration of our 40 years, we would be deeply grateful. Every dollar supports the gardens, the education and conservation programs, and the work that makes this place unlike any other.
Welcome. We are so glad you’re here.

None of it happens without people who believe that the alpine world, and Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in particular, is worth protecting.
